History of CYIPRO

CYIOS Corporation has designed and developed KM solutions for DoD since 1994. When supporting the General Officer Management Office, Mr. Timothy Carnahan, CYIOS' president, designed and implemented the first knowledge management system for the Army, America's Army Online, which became the core for Army Knowledge Online (AKO), the portal that supports over 1 million soldiers and civilians worldwide. AKO has become the KM paradigm for the DoD as it has been an acclaimed success in its worldwide support of the Army. Lessons learned from the development of AKO led to the creation of CYIPRO.

When I first started using CYIPRO...
I already knew how to send mail; big deal. But now with CYIPRO, I could integrate my mail with my projects and collaborate within private teams. I never have a cluttered inbox, my mail/notes are all in CYIPRO captured, reused and refined.

Vision of CYIPRO

In the U.S. Army, the Executive Officer (XO) directs the staff, manages operations, and liaises with military and Government leadership around the world, all under tight security and controls. Designed around this Army model, CYIPRO offers management and staff a secured, online virtual office that captures information to create and sustain knowledge-centric organizations. In 2000 CYIOS realized it needed a single solution to allow its contract staff working at the Pentagon and beyond access to a virtual office where they could manage projects, share documents and collaborate from one integrated tool. Hence, CYIPRO was created as the knowledge management platform for all staff.

Technology within CYIPRO

CYIPRO was further built around three key IT themes: interoperability, scalability, and security. For interoperability, CYIOS applied DoD standards for net-centricity in bringing together messaging, collaboration, user assistance, storage, and security to support the global military and government workforce. Linton Wells, principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for networks and information integration, stated the goal of net-centricity "to be able to change data to information to knowledge to action as rapidly as possible." CYIPRO has seized upon that theme to emphasize scalability and speed with the dependence on Microsoft SQL Server as its backend database. CYIPRO leverages the SQL database to scale to any size organization. Lastly, security standards are followed with CYIPRO's Secure Sockets Layer encryption on every web page within an organization's CYIPRO. In addition, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is integrated to enable email encryption with digital certificates and Microsoft Exchange. CYIPRO can also leverage Common Access Card (CAC) login to meet the HSPD-12 directives and FISMA compliance.

The Goal of CYIPRO

To support the US Government in its evolving need to improve the speed and security of communications and collaboration. This includes customizing CYIPRO for any organization with special needs or circumstances anywhere in the world.
