Teleworking
Teleworking Trends in the Government
The push for teleworking in Government continues:
- GSA issued Governmentwide policy on teleworking on March 17, 2006.
- A Federal mandate requires agencies to encourage 25 percent of their eligible staff to telework.
- Specific agencies such as NASA were urged to embrace teleworking or their funding may be reduced.
- Director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Air Force Lt. Gen. Charlie Croom, has strongly advocated the need for teleworking within DISA to support the re-location of many of its staff from Virginia to Maryland in line with the Base Realignment and Closure Commission's (BRAC) decision.
Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf stated, "Study after study after study shows the benefits of telework, from happier and more productive staff, to helping with the environment, to getting more vehicles off roads, particularly here in the Washington Metropolitan region."
Secure Teleworking from Anywhere at Any Time with CYIPRO
CYIPRO enables remote staff to gain access to the same information as staff in the primary office including email, files, calendar schedules, and projects. Whether using Citrix, a Virtual Private Network (VPN), or directly on the DoD NIPRNET, access to your CYIPRO will be available through a Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) page in your Web browser from any computer with Internet connectivity. CYIPRO supports the GSA's teleworking policy for all of the Alternative Working Arrangements (AWA) including telecommuting, hoteling, virtual offices, telework centers, and hot desking.
GSA's policy also defines the Virtual Office or Virtual Workplace as "a collaborative communications medium, such as a computer network, where workers gather electronically to collaborate and/or carry out other work activities." CYIPRO is that virtual workplace where your staff can even stay connected on Temporary Duty (TDY) from military bases around the world, allowing for real-time collaboration with immediate results thousands of miles from the office. CYIPRO supports total communication and collaboration anywhere and further integrates with your Certificate Authority to encrypt/decrypt email with Common Access Cards (CACs).
If you are concerned about the accountability and productivity of your staff while working offsite, CYIPRO allows management to prioritize tasks for staff so that the right tasks get completed at the right time. In addition, staff and project accountability can be tracked with the CYIPRO Timesheet and Time Utilization reports.
